Job summary

Huntsville Hospital Health System seeks a skilled System Administrator to maintain and enhance server OS, software and hardware across our network. You will configure systems, monitor performance, and troubleshoot outages, while enforcing security controls and backups.

You will implement upgrades, develop automation scripts, and train staff on new technologies, maintaining comprehensive technical documentation for reference and policy compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred in computer science or related field.
• 2 years experience in Network environment.
• Experience with VMware ESX and virtualization technologies.
• Knowledge of data backup/recovery systems and methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, upgrade and manage server operating systems, software, hardware and servers.

Overview

Maintain, upgrade and manage server operating systems, software, hardware and servers. Install and configure software and hardware. Manage network servers and technology tools. Monitor performance and maintain systems according to requirements, troubleshoot issues and outages, ensure security through access controls, and backups, upgrade systems with new releases and models, develop expertise to train staff on new technologies, maintain internal wiki with technical documentation, manuals and IT policies.

Qualifications

EDUCATION:

Bachelor's degree preferred in computer science or related field. Experience may be considered in lieu of degree

EXPERIENCE:

2 years experience in Network environment.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS/ABILITIES

• Proven experience as a System Administrator,Server administrator or similar role
• Experience with databases, networks (LAN, WAN) and patch management
• Knowledge of and data backup/recovery systems and methodologies
• Ability to create automations scripts for any number of system related activities, upgrades, or changes to individual or enterprise wide systems and computers
• Experience installing and configuring ESX host and troubleshooting VMware
• Knowledge using and maintaining various operating systems and platforms (Windows, Linux, AIX)
• Resourcefulness and problem-solving aptitude
• Excellent communication skills
• Knowledge and experience in advanced network system design and access technologies.
• Ability to analyze, coordinate, and manage multiple technologies and concepts effectively
• Outstanding organizational, technical and managerial skills to creatively formulate, interpret, and integrate a large number of complex issues and problems
• Expertise with local area networking (LAN) and wide area networking (WAN) environments
• Strong communication and people skills
• Experienced in project management and establishing protocols for system development
• Ability to analyze, coordinate, and manage multiple technologies, resources and concepts effectively
• Extensive knowledge VMware, Windows, network principles and troubleshooting
