Job summary

Peta-Foundation in Norfolk, VA is seeking an experienced IT help desk technician to provide first-level support for hardware, software and applications across the organization.

You will log issues, liaise with internal teams, support Windows and Apple platforms, and be on-call in evenings and weekends. The role requires 2–4 years of experience, a valid US driver's license, and willingness to travel.

Qualifications

• Two to four years of help-desk support experience.
• Troubleshooting Windows workstations and servers; support for proprietary software and peripherals across operating systems.
• Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access).
• Proficiency with Windows and Apple platforms.
• Familiarity with virtual private networks (VPN).
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects.
• Effective communication by phone and in person.
• Ability to work independently and take initiative.
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
• Willingness to be on call during evenings and weekends.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and travel.
• Must be at least 21 years old with a valid U.S. driver's license and 3+ years of driving experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide first-level contact and problem resolution for all users with hardware, software, and applications problems.
• Resolve user-reported problems using available tools and following procedures and policies for the handling of support cases.
• Provide accurate and timely logging of problems and resolutions using the support system.
• Act as a liaison between users and internal support staff members to assure accurate problem interpretation.
• Provide after-hours and weekend phone support.
• Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
