Job summary

Applied Engineering, Inc. is seeking an IT Support Intern in Fargo, ND to provide prompt technical assistance via phone, email, chat, or remote tools.

You will diagnose basic hardware, software, and network problems to minimize downtime while supporting IT Infrastructure projects. The role requires enrollment in IT/CS/IS studies or recent graduation, basic proficiency across Windows, macOS, Linux, and experience with Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Currently enrolled in, or recently graduated from, a Bachelor's degree in IT/IS/CS or related field.
• Relevant internship experience or coursework is a plus.
• Basic proficiency in Windows, macOS, or Linux environments.
• Knowledge of PC components, setup/deployment, printer configuration.

Responsibilities

• First-Contact Support: answer calls, emails, and live chats; act as first line of defense for user issues.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot OS, productivity suites, printers, and peripherals.
• Configure, assemble, and deploy desktop/laptop hardware; install OS and business software.
• Handle password resets, MFA setups, and basic user provisioning (Active Directory).
• Log incidents, steps taken, and resolutions in the ticketing system.
• Escalate unresolved issues to Level 2/3 with clear notes.
• Follow up with users to confirm resolution and document solutions.
• Assist in asset management and pre-prepping equipment for business use.
• Support IT Infrastructure ongoing projects.
• Other tasks as assigned.

Turn your technical passion into practical skills. We are seeking an IT Support Intern to provide prompt, professional technical assistance via phone, email, chat, or remote-control tools. You'll diagnose and resolve basic hardware, software, and network problems to minimize employee or client downtime.

Responsibilities

• First-Contact Support: Answer incoming calls, emails, and live chats; act as the first line of defense for user issues.
• Issue Diagnosis & Troubleshooting: Resolve standard problems with operating systems (Windows, MacOS, Linux), office productivity suites (Microsoft 365, Google Workspace), and local printers or peripherals.
• Hardware Configuration & Software Installation: Configure, assemble, and deploy desktop and laptop hardware, while installing and setting up operation systems and authorized business software applications.
• Account & Access Management: Handle password resets, multi-factor authentication (MFA) setups, and basic user provisioning in directories like Active Directory.
• Ticket Logging & Documentation: Record all incidents, steps taken, and resolutions accurately inside a ticketing system.
• Escalation: Transfer unresolved or complex issues to Level 2/Level 3 technical teams with clear notes.
• Follow-Up: Contact users after a fix to confirm the problem is truly resolved and document solutions in the internal knowledge base.
• Assist in asset management and pre-prepping equipment for business use.
• Assist in IT Infrastructure ongoing projects.
• Other tasks and responsibilities as assigned.

Pay Rate

$20.00/hr.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Currently enrolled in, or recently graduated from, a Bachelor's degree program in Information Technology (IT) / Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Previous internship experience, relevant coursework, or active involvement in campus organizations is a plus.
• Basic proficiency in Windows, macOS, or Linux environments.
• Knowledge of PC components, basic setup/deployment, peripheral installation, and printer configuration.
• Comfort using Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, or standard ticket management systems.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Solid time management skills with ability to juggle multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
• Repetitive hand and wrist movements.
• Ability to lift, move, and transport IT equipment (such as desktop computers, monitors, printers, peripherals) weighing up to 25 pounds.
