Job summary

The University of Georgia in the Athens area is seeking an IT Support & Infrastructure Associate to provide frontline technical support, manage end-user devices, and assist with security and infrastructure projects.

This full-time, entry-level position requires a high school diploma with 2 years’ related experience; candidates should have strong problem-solving, communication, and a customer-service mindset. Weekend/after-hours work may be required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent and 2 years of related experience.
  • Experience providing Tier 1 and Tier 2 end-user support.
  • Ability to troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 end-user support for desktops, laptops, mobile devices, operating systems, applications, peripherals, and common business technologies.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, connectivity, and account-related issues.
  • Assist users with technology adoption, system integrations, and day-to-day technical needs.
  • Assist with installation, configuration, maintenance, and monitoring of servers, virtualization platforms, storage systems, network devices, and related infrastructure.
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate with internal and external support resources to maintain service availability.
  • Support security camera, access control, and other IT and physical security systems as assigned.
  • Deploy, maintain, and troubleshoot endpoint devices and software.
  • Assist with inventory management, technology refresh initiatives, equipment tracking, and loaner device programs.
  • Support audio/visual and meeting-space technologies as needed.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, procedures, and knowledge-base articles.
  • Provide user training and technical guidance.
  • Recommend improvements to support processes, standards, and operational efficiencies.
  • Participate in technology projects, implementations, upgrades, and testing activities.
  • Research emerging technologies and industry best practices to improve services and operations.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development and technical training.

  • Position Summary: This entry-level is responsible for providing technical support and maintaining technology solutions that support the operational and security needs of Auxiliary Services. Personnel in this position diagnose and resolve issues related to end-user devices, software, network-connected systems, servers, virtualization platforms, and associated infrastructure. This position also supports IT and physical security technologies, including access control and video surveillance systems, and serves as a technical resource for projects, documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
