Job summary

The City of Freeport Information Technology Department seeks an IT Specialist to provide day‑to‑day technical and operational support across the City's technology environment under the IT Director. The role covers user support, endpoints, networks, servers, cloud services, cybersecurity, and field technology.

Responsibilities include installations, documentation, and inventory management; after-hours maintenance or emergency support may be required to ensure reliable city services.

Qualifications

• CJIS compliance certification or ability to obtain; background checks required.
• Data-security and confidentiality requirements must be followed.
• Valid driver's license for travel between City facilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide Tier 1-2 helpdesk, remote, and on-site support for hardware, software, and accounts.
• Configure and maintain desktops, laptops, tablets, printers, and AV equipment.
• Assist with network infrastructure, switches, wireless access points, and cabling.
• Manage user accounts, permissions, MFA, and cloud apps.
• Support servers, storage, backups, and patching; assist with security practices.
• Coordinate with vendors for repairs, warranty work, and service restoration.
