Job summary

The City of Freeport is seeking an Information Technology Specialist to provide day-to-day technical and operational support across the City's technology environment under the IT Director. You will assist users, endpoints, networks, servers, cloud services, and cybersecurity, ensuring reliable and secure services city‑wide.

The role requires CJIS compliance, data security, and after-hours availability as needed, with opportunities to work across municipal facilities and public events.

Qualifications

• CJIS certification and background checks required.
• Data-security and confidentiality requirements must be followed.
• Driver's license for travel between City facilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide Tier 1–2 helpdesk, remote and on-site support for hardware and software.
• Configure and maintain desktops, laptops, tablets, and printers.
• Assist with network infrastructure, servers, storage, and backups.
• Manage user accounts, MFA, and cloud applications.
• Support field technology and CJIS environments in accordance with security practices.
• Maintain documentation and assist IT Director with improvements.
