Job summary

The City of Freeport is seeking an Information Technology Specialist to provide day-to-day technical and operational support across the City’s technology environment under the IT Director. You will assist users, endpoints, networks, servers, cloud services, and cybersecurity while maintaining documentation and inventory.

Responsibilities include troubleshooting, installations, maintenance, and coordination with vendors.

Qualifications

• Must obtain CJIS compliance certification and pass background checks.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license for travel between City facilities.
• Four years of progressively responsible IT support experience preferred.
• Municipal/government IT experience and industry certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+ or Microsoft certs are valued.
• Experience with Microsoft 365, Active Directory/cloud identity, endpoint/mobile-device management, servers/virtualization, backups, and cybersecurity.

Responsibilities

• Provide Tier 1–2 helpdesk, remote, and on-site support for hardware, software, accounts, and networking issues.
• Configure and maintain desktops, laptops, tablets, printers, and AV equipment including endpoint management.
• Assist with network infrastructure installation, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
• Support user accounts, permissions, licensing, MFA, and cloud apps.
• Maintain documentation and assist with security controls and incident response.
• Provide field technology support at City facilities and events as needed.
