Job summary

The City of Freeport, Texas Information Technology Department is seeking an Information Technology Specialist to provide day-to-day technical and operational support across the City’s technology environment. You will assist users, endpoints, networks, servers, cloud services, and cybersecurity under the IT Director’s guidance.

Qualified applicants will have CJIS access requirements, at least an Associate degree in IT, and strong troubleshooting and customer-service skills.

Qualifications

• Must be able to obtain CJIS compliance certification and complete background checks for access to criminal justice information systems.
• Valid driver's license for travel between City facilities and work locations is required.
• May be required to participate in after-hours maintenance or emergency support outside normal hours.

Responsibilities

• Provide Tier 1–2 helpdesk, remote and on-site support for hardware, software, and accounts.
• Configure, deploy, and maintain desktops, laptops, tablets, printers, and AV equipment.
• Assist with network installation, monitoring, and troubleshooting of connectivity and switches.
• Assist with user accounts, permissions, licensing, and identity services.
• Support servers, storage, backups, and scheduled maintenance; escalate major issues as needed.
• Monitor security and endpoint-management systems and assist with cybersecurity incidents.
