Job summary

The City of Freeport Texas is seeking an Information Technology Specialist to provide day-to-day technical and operational support across the City’s technology environment under the IT Director. The role covers users, endpoints, networks, servers, cloud services, and cybersecurity to ensure reliable City services.

Qualified candidates will perform troubleshooting, installation, documentation, and after-hours support as needed; CJIS security and driving to multiple City facilities are required,

Qualifications

• CJIS compliance requirements and background checks.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain CJIS compliance certification and background checks.
• Must adhere to data-security and confidentiality requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide Tier 1-2 helpdesk, remote, and on-site support for hardware, software, accounts, connectivity, and peripherals.
• Configure and manage desktops, laptops, tablets, smartphones, printers, and related devices; handle endpoint/mobile management.
• Assist with network infrastructure installation, monitoring, and troubleshooting including switches, wireless, cabling, and VPN.
• Support user accounts, permissions, licensing, directory services, MFA, email, and cloud apps.
• Manage servers, storage, backups, and system health; assist with maintenance and upgrades.
• Monitor security and endpoint-management systems; assist in cybersecurity incident response and remediation.
• Maintain asset and inventory records; assist with deployment and lifecycle management.
