Position Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated, solutions-oriented IT Specialist to join our
family-owned marina and growing hospitality and marine business. This position will
support the technology needs of our marina, multiple bars and restaurants, boat sales,
boat service, and administrative operations.
The IT Specialist will be responsible for maintaining and improving our technology
infrastructure while playing a key role in identifying, implementing, and optimizing
software, systems, and technology that make our employees's jobs easier, faster, more
efficient, and more effective.
This is more than a traditional IT support position. We are looking for someone who
thinks proactively about "How can we do this better?" and is constantly looking for new
technology, software, automation, and innovative solutions that can improve the way our
business operates.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable working with people at every level of the
organization, from restaurant and bar employees to marina staff, boat sales and service
teams, managers, and ownership.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage, maintain, troubleshoot, and improve the company's network
- Maintain reliable Wi-Fi and internet connectivity throughout the marina, restaurants, bars, offices, service areas, and other facilities.
- Manage routers, switches, access points, firewalls, printers, computers, tablets, POS systems, and other technology equipment.
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, connectivity, and user-access issues.
- Monitor system performance and identify potential problems before they impact operations.
- Assist with cybersecurity, system security, password management, access controls, backups, and data protection.
- Coordinate with outside technology vendors, internet providers, software providers, and contractors when necessary.
- Maintain accurate documentation of networks, systems, equipment, accounts, and technology infrastructure.
Software Implementation & Optimization
- Evaluate, recommend, implement, and support software and technology solutions across all areas of the business.
- Work closely with management and department leaders to understand operational challenges and identify technology-based solutions.
- Assist with implementation of new POS systems, restaurant technology, scheduling systems, inventory systems, accounting software, CRM platforms, boat sales/service software, communication tools, and other business applications.
- Lead or assist with software rollouts, including configuration, testing, training, troubleshooting, and ongoing optimization.
- Ensure different systems work together effectively whenever possible.
- Identify opportunities to eliminate unnecessary manual processes, duplicate data entry, paperwork, and inefficient workflows.
- Continuously evaluate existing technology and recommend improvements.
- Stay current on emerging technology, software, artificial intelligence, automation, cybersecurity, and other innovations relevant to the hospitality and marine
- Proactively research new tools and technologies that could improve efficiency, customer service, communication, profitability, or employee experience.
- Identify repetitive or time-consuming tasks that could be automated or simplified.
- Develop and implement technology-driven solutions that reduce employee
- Encourage a culture of continuous improvement throughout the organization.
- Regularly ask: "Is there a better, faster, easier way to do this?"
- Present recommendations to ownership and management based on potential efficiency, cost savings, return on investment, and ease of implementation.
Employee Support & Training
- Provide timely technical support to employees across all departments.
- Train employees on new software, systems, equipment, and technology.
- Create simple instructions, guides, and standard operating procedures when appropriate.
- Help employees become more comfortable and confident using technology.
- Work with managers to identify technology-related challenges affecting their teams.
- Support the continuous evolution of employee roles as technology changes.

Strategic Technology Responsibilities
- Develop an ongoing technology improvement roadmap.
- Identify opportunities for automation and artificial intelligence.
- Recommend technology that can reduce labor‑intensive administrative tasks.
- Improve the flow and accessibility of information throughout the company.
- Help departments utilize existing software to its full potential.
- Identify opportunities to integrate systems and eliminate duplicate work.
- Measure the effectiveness of new technology implementations.
- Help leadership understand the benefits, costs, and risks of technology investments.

Qualifications
- Proven experience in IT support, network administration, systems administration, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of networking, Wi-Fi infrastructure, hardware, software, and troubleshooting.
- Experience supporting multiple locations, departments, or business units is preferred.
- Experience implementing or administering business software is highly preferred.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Comfortable learning new technology quickly.
- Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical employees in a simple and approachable way.
- Strong organizational and project-management skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple issues and projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with management and employees.
