Job summary

Elroy Air seeks a hands-on Head of IT to own IT and security from the ground up as a solo builder while the company scales from flight testing to production.

You will design, defend, and operate the internal IT infrastructure, including identity management, endpoints, networking, and compliance with export controls.

This role requires on-site work in California, strong cloud and security skills, and the ability to lead critical security programs in a fast-moving aerospace environment.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in IT infrastructure or related field with solo/small-team ownership.
• Strong cloud experience with AWS and GCP.
• Hands-on MDM and EDR implementation.
• Identity automation using Okta or Azure AD in regulated environments.
• Deep network security expertise including VPNs, firewalls, and segmentation.
• Experience building or maintaining CMMC and/or NIST 800-171 compliance.
• Eligible to work in the US and hold ITAR/EAR access.
• On-site presence in a hybrid setup and collaboration with security and lab environments.

Responsibilities

• Architect and defend network infrastructure against intrusions; lead logging, detection, and incident response.
• Build and maintain CMMC/NIST compliance from the ground up; participate in audits.
• Own IdP systems and access management on least-privilege principles.
• Manage endpoint deployment, fleet lifecycle, and conditional-access workflows.
• Oversee corporate IT, SaaS management, onboarding/offboarding automation, and web hosting/DNS support.
• End-to-end management of IT infrastructure with compliance to NIST SP 800-53.
• Develop and enforce IT policies aligned with defense sector norms.
• Architect secure physical network infrastructure across office, lab, and production.
• Partner with Engineering to support cloud computing and lab environments.
• Automate critical aspects of employee lifecycle and onboarding/offboarding.
