Job summary

Efficient Computer is shaping the next generation of computing with a security‑minded IT strategy across multiple offices. You will own the IT stack end-to-end, from laptops to access control, and drive policies that enable secure operations in a defense ecosystem context.

This is a senior, standalone role focused on creating scalable processes, governance, and a roadmap for future IT growth, including eventual team expansion. Expect travel across our Bay Area and other offices as needed.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of progressive IT experience, including experience as the sole or founding IT owner at a startup.
• Hands-on depth with MDM platforms (Jamf, Kandji, Intune) across macOS and Windows fleets.
• Strong experience administering SSO and identity providers and designing sane access models; Rippling on top of Google Workspace experience translates well.
• Experience with automated user lifecycle management, including SCIM provisioning and deprovisioning across SaaS applications.
• Experience deploying and managing RADIUS servers for network authentication.
• Working knowledge of CMMC, NIST SP 800-171, or comparable defense/government IT compliance frameworks.
• Solid grounding in security operations: endpoint protection, email security, incident response, and security awareness.
• Comfort with office networking across multiple physical sites.
• Willingness to travel ~25% of the time.

Responsibilities

• Own day-to-day IT operations across multiple offices, building scalable systems.
• Lead onboarding/offboarding, provisioning, deprovisioning, access reviews, and device lifecycle.
• Manage laptops and MDM, including baselines, patching and endpoint security.
• Administer identity with SSO and SCIM provisioning across SaaS apps.
• Oversee office IT infrastructure: networking, Wi‑Fi, conference rooms, AV, printers, access controls.
• Manage IT vendors, licensing and renewals to keep spend sensible.
