Job summary

FAR.AI is hiring an IT & Security Manager to keep our Berkeley-based operations secure and reliable as we scale. The role blends hands-on IT work with security, risk management, and automation, reporting to the COO and collaborating with Research, Operations, and Communications.

You’ll own accounts, devices, IAM, and our office network, and you’ll shape the team as it grows while improving our resilience against targeted AI-driven threats.

Qualifications

• Led IT/security for 30–150 person orgs, or as sole owner.
• Comfortable in a terminal and can code; automation minded.
• Focus on root causes over symptoms and systems redesigns.
• Hands-on security work driven by threat models.
• Implemented core identity and device infrastructure including MDM and SSO.
• Fast and service-oriented; reliable support history.
• Strong cross-functional communication with technical and non-technical teammates.
• Uses LLMs in daily work; has opinions on where they help or not.

Responsibilities

• Own core IT operations end-to-end: accounts, devices, IAM, onboarding/offboarding, office network, daily support.
• Address security gaps prioritized by risk: access controls, endpoint hardening, data protection.
• Design self-serve infrastructure with cross-team collaboration to reduce manual work.
• Partner with Research, Operations, Events, and Communications to securely enable AI adoption.
• Hire and develop the in-person IT Coordinator; define and grow the team.
• Lead internal communication and change management around deployments and new processes.
