Job summary

Basin Electric Power Cooperative invites applications for a STUDENT INTERN - IT SECURITY (HDQ) at its Headquarters in Bismarck, ND. This summer internship (May 17, 2027 through August 20, 2027) supports the IT Security team with monitoring, analysis, tool administration, and project work to protect BES information systems and data.

The role offers hands-on experience with enterprise security technologies, vulnerability management, identity and access controls, and security project participation,

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must be currently enrolled as a full-time student in a two-year CIS/MIS or a related program with at least 1 year completed, or a recent graduate within 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Assist in monitoring security alerts and events from cybersecurity tools and platforms.
• Support vulnerability management activities including identification, tracking, and remediation.
• Assist with identity and access management processes and privileged access controls.
• Support security projects involving endpoint protection, security monitoring, certificate lifecycle management, and cloud security solutions.
• Assist with security assessments, audits, and documentation efforts.
• Research emerging cybersecurity threats and industry best practices.
• Help develop and maintain security procedures and awareness materials.
• Support vulnerability management activities including scanning, reporting, and remediation tracking.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
