Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an IT Security Administrator to join the operations team in Paarl. This hands-on role manages security infrastructure, implements measures, monitors for threats, and responds to incidents to protect IT assets and data.

You will install and maintain security hardware and software, monitor activity, manage access controls, perform vulnerability scans, and help develop security policies.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of IT support or admin experience focused on security.
• Experience managing firewalls, IDS, and endpoint protection.
• Solid understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP.
• Experience with Windows and Linux security.
• Certifications such as CompTIA Security+ are a plus.

Responsibilities

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled IT Security Administrator to join their operations team in Paarl . This role is responsible for the day-to-day management and maintenance of the company's security infrastructure. You will implement security measures, monitor systems for threats, and respond to security incidents to ensure the protection of IT assets and data. This is a hands-on position for an individual dedicated to maintaining a secure and stable IT environment within the scenic region of Paarl , working on-site to manage critical security systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain security hardware and software, including firewalls, VPNs, and antivirus solutions.
• Monitor network and system activity for security breaches and policy violations.
• Respond to security alerts and incidents, performing initial investigation and remediation.

Requirements

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a related field.

• Solid understanding of network security principles and protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
• Experience with Windows and Linux operating systems security.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
