As a Program Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and delivering complex, multi-faceted programs that consist of multiple interrelated projects. You will play a critical role in ensuring that program objectives align with the organization's strategic goals. This role involves strategic planning, leadership, resource management, and effective communication to drive cross-functional teams toward achieving program success. The Program Manager will manage a small team of agile project managers.

Geo-Salary Information

State specific pay scales for this role are as follows:

$126,294 to $246,043 (CA, NJ, NY, WA, HI, AK, MD, CT, RI, MA)

$114,813 to $223,675(NV, OR, AZ, CO, WY, TX, ND, MN, MO, IL, WI, FL, GA, MI, OH, VA, PA, DE, VT, NH, ME)

$103,332 to $201,308 (UT, ID, MT, NM, SD, NE, KS, OK, IA, AR, LA, MS, AL, TN, KY, IN, SC, NC, WV)

The expected base salary for this position will vary depending on a number of factors, including relevant experience, skills and location.

Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

  • Build, scale, and execute programs that drive strategic priorities from ideation to implementation, primarily through strong program management principles and hands-on management (program examples: introducing standards across disciplines to improve cycle time, reducing on-call burden/enabling Engineering productivity, improving/implementing business operating/governance models, driving quality initiatives across disciplines, etc.)
  • Proficient infrastructure knowledge across all areas including computer, network, server and cloud.Experience leading infrastructure projects, managing from resource allocation, progress tracking, change and control, testing and training to on-time delivery within budget.Experience creating a project management framework and required training and communication to deliver to the PMO and its stakeholders.
  • Proactively identify areas opportunity to increase rigor, uplevel hygiene, drive efficiency, improve systems/processes and build/lead programs while ensuring compliance and maintaining business velocity and flexibility
  • Identify and solve large scale, ambiguous and complex problems with company/org-wide impact and drive org-wide strategic improvements
  • Employ problem solving and analytical skills to facilitate program decision making, unblocking and risk mitigation
  • Develop processes that drive standardization through operational excellence and rigor and work with stakeholders to implement and drive adoption
  • Develop strong executive, peer and stakeholder relationships, maintaining effective communication channels and influencing without authority
  • Exhibit excellent judgment on sensitive and cross-functional issues, fostering collaboration between leaders, sub-teams, and the larger organization
  • Drive efficiency through simplification, automation and continuous improvement of systems, processes and ways of working
  • Promote use of data analytics to drive value measuring methodology for effective data-driven decision making and for continuous auditing and monitoring of benefits
  • Promote thought leadership for new ideas and new ways of executing initiatives
  • Establish best practices, promote standardization and serve as a mentor to full team of project managers
  • Demonstrated record of problem-solving and analytical skills, including presentation skills to leadership
  • Effective communication skills and experience to influence peers and leadership to gain buy-in and drive programs to completion
  • Expert-level organization, with project and process management skills and a track record of dependable follow-through
  • Experience in a fast-paced environment and willingness to play high and low – to think strategically and also dig into the details and execute
  • Experience with hands-on involvement solving technical problems
  • Strong understanding of program and project management methodologies, tools, and best practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with stakeholders and communicate program updates.
  • Exceptional leadership and decision-making abilities to navigate complex, multi-dimensional programs.
Qualifications

Education:

Preferred

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) and Agile Certifications

Experience:

Minimum

  • Minimum 10 years of Agile, Scrum, project management, or related experience with a software development team that applied Scrum principles, practices, and theories.
  • Expert level experience leading (hands-on) program management for large, complex, and ambiguous projects with multiple stakeholders and cross-functional teams
  • Experience working with broad and geographically dispersed organizations, programs, and projects with a company-wide impact, including management of multiple concurrent projects
  • Demonstrated record of problem-solving and analytical skills, including presentation skills to leadership
  • Effective communication skills and experience to influence peers and leadership to gain buy-in and drive programs to completion
  • Expert-level organization, with project and process management skills and a track record of dependable follow-through
  • Experience in a fast-paced environment and willingness to play high and low – to think strategically and also dig into the details and execute
  • Experience with hands-on involvement solving technical problems
  • Strong understanding of program and project management methodologies, tools, and best practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with stakeholders and communicate program updates.

  • Proficiency with MS Project, Jira and Confluence.

Preferred:

  • 5 or more years of experience managing team members
  • Proficient level infrastructure knowledge across all areas including computer, network, server and cloud.

  • Experience leading infrastructure projects, managing from resource allocation, progress tracking, change and control, testing and training to on-time delivery within budget.

  • Experience creating a project management framework and required training and communication to deliver to the PMO and its stakeholders.

Skills and Abilities:

Minimum

  • Ability to influence without authority, be an effective negotiator, and communicate with various organizational levels, including cross-functionally, at the frontline, and with senior leadership.
  • Demonstrate high level of interpersonal skill used to build relationships and manage conflict within the team and cross-functionally. Well-developed capacity for emotional intelligence.

Preferred

  • Deep understanding of the product development life cycle across various areas of business operations
  • Experience in the Property & Casualty insurance industry
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, PgMP, PMI-ACP)
