Job summary

Books-A-Million, America’s hometown bookstore, seeks a Spring 2027 IT PMO Project Intern. Based on-site at the West Park Corporate Office in Birmingham, AL, this part-time internship (up to 20 hours per week) runs January 25 – April 23, 2027, and offers hands-on experience supporting a live IT implementation from readiness through closeout.

Under the supervision of an IT Project Manager, you will help track open items, prepare close-out deliverables, document transitions in monday.com, and

Qualifications

• Rising junior or rising senior at an accredited college or university.
• Pursuing a degree in Information Systems, Business, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Attention to detail and accuracy.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, and comfort using Outlook and Microsoft Teams.
• Hands-on experience using AI tools.

Responsibilities

• Support final implementation readiness for the Hermes WMS, helping track open items, testing progress, and go-live readiness tasks to resolution or a named owner.
• Prepare and populate the project close-out checklist, including gathering final deliverables and confirming completion of tasks.
• Assist with and document the transition of the project’s monday.com board to Archive.
• Conduct Lessons Learned sessions with each participating department and prepare a report with action items.
