Job summary

Scale Microgrids seeks a Systems Administrator to architect, deploy, and maintain core IT and OT systems for our microgrid operations, reporting to the Sr Manager, IT at our Ridgewood HQ. The role blends hands-on engineering with admin tasks focused on access control, security, and compliance across IT and field OT assets.

The ideal candidate has strong networking fundamentals and OT/ICS exposure in energy/renewables, plus NIST/ISO 27001/SOC 2 familiarity.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field.
5+ years as a Systems Engineer/Administrator with network administration responsibility.
OT/ICS/SCADA experience in energy, utilities, renewables, or industrial systems preferred.
Demonstrated experience with NIST, ISO 27001, and SOC 2 frameworks.
Certifications such as Network+/Security+, CCNA, Azure Administrator, MCSA/MCSE, RHCSA, or GICSP preferred.
Technical proficiency: Windows Server, Linux (Ubuntu/CentOS), Active Directory, Azure AD, Group Policy, VMware/Hyper‑V.
Strong networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, DNS/DHCP, VLANs, VPNs.
Hands-on experience with cellular modems/industrial gateways and carrier/SIM management.

Responsibilities

Design, deploy, and maintain server, storage, and virtualized infrastructure (cloud and on‑prem).
Own identity and access management end‑to‑end (onboarding/offboarding, RBAC, MFA, privileged access, backups).
Administer EDR, SIEM, MDM, and vulnerability management; extend controls into OT.
Provide Tier 1–3 support across Windows, macOS, Linux, virtualization, and cloud.
Manage Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, and Azure (VMs, storage, identity, conditional access).
Design and maintain switching, routing, VLANs, firewalls, and VPNs; secure remote access paths.
Support microgrid controllers, PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, inverters, and meters; troubleshoot OT protocols.
Build and tune monitoring/alerting across IT and OT; create dashboards and reduce MTTR.
