Job summary

Sun Tran is seeking an experienced IT Manager to lead the daily operations of the IT department in Tucson, AZ. The role balances strategic planning with hands-on technical support to ensure reliable and secure technology services for public transportation operations.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree in CS/IT or related field, five years of IT systems/network experience, and strong communication skills. A valid driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related professional/technical field (or equivalent experience).
• Five years of experience in IT systems, help desk, and network administration.
• Advanced technical knowledge of computer systems, operating systems, networking, hardware and software administration.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical staff are required. A valid Driver’s License is required.

Responsibilities

• Provides leadership and oversight for Sun Tran’s IT operations while delivering exceptional technical support to internal customers.
• Administering help desk operations and providing technical support to end users.
• Installing, configuring, maintaining and troubleshooting workstations, software applications, specialized equipment, and proprietary platform hardware.
• Developing and implementing technology goals, policies, standards and system improvements.
• Managing network administration firewalls, core infrastructure, data backups, disaster recovery, and communications systems in coordination with City IT.
• Leading technology projects, evaluating system performance, and planning system upgrades and replacements.
• Preparing technical specifications, procuring IT equipment and software and network asset inventories.
• Developing and maintaining SOPs, technical documentation and end-user support materials.
• Administering security badge systems, building access control, and specialized operational software.
• Performing other related duties as assigned.
