Job summary

Ivy Tech Bloomington campus is seeking a full‑time lab assistant to support School of Information Technology programs with lab assistance, equipment maintenance, inventory control, and basic network/server administration. This hourly position is listed as $40,000 per year in salary.

Major duties include helping labs/classrooms, configuring equipment, performing server tasks, and supervising work‐study staff, with opportunities to engage in community service and program development activities.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in an IT field or 2+ years of related work experience.
• Computer proficiency in hardware/software support, computer networking, and server administration.
• Strong written and verbal communication; self-motivation and documentation.
• CompTIA A+ certification is required.
• Experience with virtualization (Hyper‑V and/or Proxmox) is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide helpdesk support to all IT labs and classrooms.
• Maintain lab safety, cleanliness, and equipment operability.
• Configure network and lab equipment (computers, routers, switches, wireless APs, printers, signage).
• Perform basic server and account administration.
• Manage inventory of classroom and lab equipment and assets.
