Job summary

The City of Wheat Ridge is seeking an IT Infrastructure Supervisor to lead a team and ensure the reliable operation of the organization’s IT systems. You will design, implement, and optimize server, SaaS, network, and telecom infrastructure while guiding staff to deliver excellent service.

You will supervise IT staff, manage projects and vendors, and uphold change management practices. The role requires strategic thinking and hands-on technical expertise in a public-sector setting.

Qualifications

  • Five years’ experience managing and delivering infrastructure design and operational excellence.
  • Minimum two years experience managing an infrastructure team.
  • Hands-on experience in troubleshooting software and hardware.
  • Knowledge of current best practices and standards, including Group Policy, Microsoft 365, Azure, backups, and desktop support.
  • Public sector experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement short- and long-term strategic plans to ensure infrastructure capacity meets existing and future requirements.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and training for infrastructure teams and project management.
  • Participate in IT strategy development with the IT executive team.
  • Oversee procurement efforts for infrastructure products and services.
  • Manage vendors and contracts during deployment and ensure security measures are planned and deployed.
  • Supervise system administrators, desktop technicians, and service desk; conduct performance reviews.

The final hiring salary will be determined based on the selected candidate’s qualifications, experience, internal equity, and other applicable considerations. We strive to create a welcoming environment for all staff, volunteers, and members of our community.ABOUT THE ROLE: The IT Infrastructure Supervisor’s role is to manage staff and overall operations, ensuring the stable operation of the organization’s IT infrastructure. This includes developing, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing key functional areas, particularly server infrastructure, Software as a Service (SaaS) systems, network infrastructure, and telecommunications systems. The IT Infrastructure Supervisor will also schedule and direct activities to resolve hardware and software problems in a timely and accurate fashion.RESPONSIBILITIES:Strategy & PlanningDesign and implement short- and long-term strategic plans to ensure infrastructure capacity meets existing and future requirements.Help develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and associated training plans for infrastructure team members and project management.Participate in the development of IT strategies in collaboration with the IT executive team.Conduct research and make recommendations on products, services, protocols, and standards in support of all infrastructure procurement and development efforts.Ensure changes are documented and change management processes are followedFill in for Chief Information Officer when neededAcquisition & DeploymentManage vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure infrastructure-specific products and services.
