Job summary

The City of Wheat Ridge is seeking a Fleet Mechanic to inspect, diagnose, and repair a diverse fleet of city vehicles and equipment, including light, heavy, and specialty equipment. You will perform preventive maintenance, field service, and vehicle outfitting to keep City operations safe and reliable.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED, with preferred ASE certifications and a Class B CDL or ability to obtain within six months.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, diagnose, maintain, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on the City’s fleet of gasoline, diesel, hybrid, and electric vehicles and equipment.
  • Utilize diagnostic equipment and fabrication skills to perform routine maintenance, complex repairs, and emergency field service while ensuring safety and compliance.
  • Perform vehicle outfitting and maintain compliance with City policies, environmental regulations, and OSHA standards.

We strive to create a welcoming environment for all staff, volunteers, and members of our community.ABOUT THE ROLE: Under the general supervision of the Fleet Supervisor (or Lead Fleet Mechanic), performs skilled mechanical work involving the inspection, diagnosis, maintenance, repair, and preventative maintenance of the City's diverse fleet of gasoline, diesel, hybrid, and electric vehicles and equipment. This includes light-duty vehicles, patrol vehicles, heavy-duty trucks, off-road equipment, automated refuse trucks, construction equipment, and small engine equipment.This position is responsible for ensuring City vehicles and equipment operate safely, efficiently, and reliably through high-quality mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic repairs.
