Job summary

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of Corrections, seeks an Information Technology Generalist 1 to support SCI Mahanoy’s computer systems, network equipment, and user applications. You will diagnose issues, configure PCs, and train staff to maintain reliable operations across the facility.

Full-time, 37.5 hours weekly, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday–Friday. Telework is not available. Applicants must meet PA residency requirements and CJIS compliance, with background checks as required.

Qualifications

• One year as an Information Technology Trainee or Information Technology Technician (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
• Three years of information technology experience in applications development or applications maintenance, networking or desktop services, web site development or web site design, or other information technology support/administration services; or
• One year of information technology experience in applications development or applications maintenance, networking or desktop services, web site development or web site design, or other information technology support/administration services, and an associate's degree in any information technology field; or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Responsibilities

• Technical Support: Diagnose issues and resolve hardware and software problems.
• System Configuration: Set up PCs, install software, and configure systems to meet departmental requirements.
• Network Maintenance: Troubleshoot connectivity issues and support LAN functionality.
• Inventory Management: Maintain equipment records and complete facility-wide inventories.
• User Training: Train staff on hardware, software, and system updates.
• Security Oversight: Implement network security measures and manage user accounts.
