Job description

Position Overview

This 100% onsite position (301 Morea Rd, Frackville, PA 17932) functions as the institution’s Information Technology Coordinator. The role involves performing IT duties inside and outside of the institution, troubleshooting automation problems, system administration, installing/maintaining computer and network equipment, providing technical assistance to users, developing software applications, managing the GTL Tablet/Kiosk system, and related responsibilities. This is a hands‑on position; remote work is not an option.

Responsibilities
  • Diagnose automation, equipment, software, and network problems across SCI Mahanoy, Frackville, Allentown and Reading PBPPs.
  • Perform equipment, software and network inter‑connectivity diagnostics, research solutions, and recommend improvements.
  • Coordinate with technical staff and vendors for maintenance, arrange service calls, and track completion.
  • Restore data to file servers and workstations; maintain problem logs and document findings.
  • Perform systems administration: configure computer systems to meet DOC and OA specifications, administer the network, manage user accounts and network resources, maintain configuration logs.
  • Instruct users on backup procedures for desktops and servers; transfer files and programs as needed.
  • Conduct systems audits, ensure equipment is properly configured, passwords are secure, and only licensed software is installed.
  • Install and maintain computer and network equipment and software, including telecommunications cabling and hardware components.
  • Upgrade and install equipment and software, test operation in a network environment, and document results.
  • Manage preventative maintenance, develop and monitor maintenance contracts and warranties.
  • Act as Facility Administrator of the GTL Tablet/Kiosk System: reset pins for inmates, unlock tablets, report issues, and follow up with GTL.
  • Conduct annual inventory of computer and network equipment and software using ServiceNow.
  • Arrange return or destruction of obsolete equipment, ensuring data is irrecoverable and records are retained.
  • Provide technical assistance and user support, delivering training on in‑house applications and identifying training needs.
  • Serve as liaison between departments, maintaining communication with MIS Bureau, Superintendent, Business Manager, and IT colleagues.
  • Prepare reports, correspondence, and software application development documentation.
  • Analyze current processes, perform systems analysis, design new or improved systems, and develop action plans.
  • Review equipment and software requests, obtain approvals from MIS Bureau, and manage orders, receiving, tagging, and inventorying items.
  • Perform related duties and special assignments as needed.
Qualifications
  • Required: 5 years experience with call tracking, ticketing software, and managing support issues.
  • Required: 5 years of experience in technical support for hardware and software.
  • Highly desired: a 4‑year college degree.
  • Experience in automation system administration and network configuration is preferred.
