Job summary

SIXT is seeking an IT Field Technician I to install, configure, and deploy technology across our North American branch network. You will help bring new SIXT locations online and provide on-site support for existing branches, with 40–50% nationwide travel.

You will handle workstations, printers, kiosks, network gear, and cabling, ensuring devices are imaged and ready for use while coordinating with IT teams and contractors for ongoing support.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in IT field services, desktop support, or similar role.
• Hands-on experience running, terminating, and testing Cat6/Cat6A cabling and installing IT equipment.
• Experience configuring, imaging, and troubleshooting Windows 10/11; basic TCP/IP, DHCP, VLANs, and Wi‑Fi.

Responsibilities

• Install and configure workstations, printers, kiosks, network equipment at SIXT locations.
• Run, terminate, and test structured cabling; coordinate with contractors for site readiness.
• Prepare and deploy devices using imaging/provisioning processes for use.

Job description

SIXT is looking for an IT Field Technician I to support the installation, configuration, and deployment of technology across our growing North American branch network. In this hands‑on role, you will help bring new SIXT locations online while providing technical support to existing branches. You will work closely with our IT teams to ensure equipment, connectivity, and systems are ready for business operations. This position requires 40–50% nationwide travel and the ability to work independently in a fast‑paced environment.

YOUR ROLE AT SIXT

• You will install and configure workstations, printers, kiosks, network equipment, and other technology at new and existing SIXT locations
• You will run, terminate, and test structured cabling, including Cat6 and Cat6A, while coordinating with contractors to ensure site readiness
• You will prepare and deploy devices using standard imaging and provisioning processes to ensure equipment is ready for use
• You will perform network connectivity testing, verify VLAN configurations, and troubleshoot hardware and connectivity issues
• You will provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 on‑site technical support during branch openings and assist employees with hardware, software, and peripheral issues
• You will maintain accurate installation documentation, equipment inventory, and go‑live checklists while coordinating with IT teams for ongoing branch support

YOUR SKILLS MATTER

• IT Support Experience You have 2+ years of experience in IT field services, desktop support, or a similar technical support role
• Cabling & Installation You have hands‑on experience running, terminating, and testing Cat6 or Cat6A cabling and installing IT equipment
• Technical Knowledge You have experience configuring, imaging, and troubleshooting Windows 10/11 devices, along with a basic understanding of TCP/IP, DHCP, VLANs, and Wi‑Fi
• Troubleshooting Skills You have the ability to read network diagrams, resolve technical issues independently, and provide on‑site support in a fast‑paced environment
• Organization & Communication You have strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to coordinate with internal teams and external contractors
• Travel & Flexibility You have a valid driver's license and the flexibility to travel 40–50% nationwide to support branch openings and existing locations
