Job description

Job Description Summary: This position is available within the University of Maryland’s Division of Information Technology (DIT). Join our team to be a part of the exciting transformation as we migrate UMD computing systems to a modern cloud-based solution. The IT Software Engineer, Workday Integration will use Workday integration code including Studio, EIB, Reports, and BIRTs as part of the Workday Student implementation. The position is hands‑on, agile, team‑based development.

Responsibilities
  • Implementing solutions within a development team.
  • Following a formal development methodology and working within scheduled timelines.
  • Participating in peer code reviews, documentation, and formal testing.
Position Requirements
  • Education:Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience:Three (3) years of professional experience developing and maintaining data integrations between systems. Up to four (4) additional years of related work experience may be substituted on a year‑for‑year basis.
  • Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
    • Integration‑related technologies (SOAP and REST APIs, WSDL, SFTP, XML/XSLT).
    • Integration of disparate systems.
    • Oral and written communication.
    • Use of Google Workspace products.
    • Interpretation and application of policies, procedures, regulations, and laws.
    • Multitasking with a commitment to customer service.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field.
    • Experience with Workday’s Integration Framework including EIBs, RaaS, Studio, and Orchestration.
    • 3+ years of experience with relational databases (Oracle, MySQL, etc.) and SQL query development.
    • 3+ years of experience with ETL and/or report development platforms.
    • Experience with AI to increase productivity and efficiency of coding and existing processes.
    • Experience in enterprise or university environments.
Physical Demands

Sedentary work. Employee will need to sit for long periods of time to work on a computer, and may need to travel occasionally to meet with clients and customers on and off campus. May need to work evenings and/or weekends.

Essential Work Conditions

This position is considered essential and may require the employee to work at the normal work location or an alternative location during a major catastrophic event, weather emergency, or other operational emergency to help maintain continuity of University services. May be required to work evenings, nights, weekends, or different shifts for extended periods.
