Position Summary

STS is seeking an IT Director to take ownership of both day-to-day IT help desk activities and the company's broader technology strategy. This is a true player-coach role, balancing direct employee support (helpdesk, systems troubleshooting, equipment) with strategic work, technology roadmap, security, infrastructure planning, and vendor management. This role reports directly to the CEO.

Compensation: $95,000-$130,000, based on experience

Key Responsibilities

Hands-On IT Support

• Serve as the primary point of contact for employee IT and helpdesk requests
• Maintain and troubleshoot company systems, hardware, and software
• Manage day-to-day IT operations across office and terminal locations

Strategic IT Leadership

• Develop and execute a long-term technology roadmap for the company
• Own IT security, including data protection, backup, and disaster recovery planning
• Evaluate, select, and manage relationships with technology vendors and service providers
• Lead technology projects from planning through implementation (system upgrades, software rollouts, infrastructure improvements)
• Ensure systems supporting core operations (dispatch, ELD/compliance, customer EDI) run reliably and scale with growth
• Identify opportunities to use technology to improve efficiency, safety, and customer service

Qualifications

• Prior experience in an IT leadership or senior IT generalist role, ideally within trucking, logistics, or a similarly operations-intensive industry
• Experience with transportation-specific systems a strong plus (TMS/dispatch software, ELD, EDI)
• Strong vendor management and project management skills
• Ability to communicate technology decisions clearly to non-technical leadership and staff
• Familiarity with leveraging AI tools to improve efficiency (automation, documentation, support) a plus
