The Town of Westport, Connecticut is seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking IT Director to lead and modernize its Information Technology operations. Reporting directly to the First Selectwoman, the IT Director will be responsible for the strategic planning, development, and management of the Town’s technology infrastructure, cybersecurity, and digital services across all departments, including public safety, finance, land use, public works, and administration. This full-time, exempt position plays a critical leadership role in driving digital transformation, implementing emerging technologies such as AI, and supporting smart city initiatives that enhance municipal services and operational efficiency.
The successful candidate will develop and execute a comprehensive, town-wide IT strategy that prioritizes system modernization, software consolidation, and secure cloud integration. They will be responsible for advising town leadership on key technology investments, ensuring cybersecurity compliance, and optimizing digital platforms to improve resident services. In addition to managing network infrastructure and enterprise applications, the IT Director will lead efforts in automation, data analytics, and the adoption of innovative tools to support sustainable growth and evidence-based decision-making.
:Applicants should possess a bachelor’s degree in IT, computer science, business administration, or a related field (a master’s degree is preferred), along with 7–10 years of progressive leadership experience in IT, preferably in a municipal or government setting. A strong background in enterprise IT systems, cybersecurity, cloud services, and AI applications is essential. Ideal candidates will also have experience with ERP implementation, software integration, public-sector systems, and managing technology budgets. Certifications such as PMP, CISSP, or cloud platform credentials (AWS, Azure) are a plus.
