Job summary

State of Ohio's Administrative Services department seeks an Information Technology Apprentice (Database Management) in Columbus, OH. Under supervision, you will learn core IT competencies, support database operations, and participate in training to build SQL and scripting foundations.

The role emphasizes problem solving, time management, and customer service as you assist in database monitoring, maintenance, and project support within a state government environment.

Qualifications

• 1 course or 2 months experience in Information Systems/Information Technology, or a related field including but not limited to: Software Engineering/Development, Data Analytics/Business Intelligence, Database Administration, Network, IT Security and Help Desk/Customer Support

Responsibilities

• Learn core IT competencies as an apprentice with designated staff
• Attend training courses relevant to assigned IT program area
• Assist with daily tasks such as database server and activity monitoring, maintenance and patching, and processing customer requests
• Learn IT Change Management policies and procedures
• Assist documenting database inventory, process flows and procedures
• Build foundational knowledge of database management concepts and strategies
• Learn foundational concepts of SQL and scripting
• Represent the agency to internal and external customers; schedule meetings and take notes
• Provide project support for database services projects
