The Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) is looking for a full-time Information Technology (IT) Cybersecurity Specialist (GS-2210-11), to perform as the Installation Senior Server Administrator/Virtualization Expert, working at the 628th Communications Squadron, Joint Base (JB) Lindsey Graham, in Charleston, South Carolina.

Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) you are selected for; you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period.

Salary ($76,343 - $99,752) based on experience.

Up to 20% telework may be authorized. The incumbent must be in the local commuting area, and approval is based on supervisor recommendation.

Qualifications/Requirements

In this position you will serve as an IT Specialist, responsible for the administration, operation, and maintenance of the installation’s computer networks and client systems with primary knowledge requirements of network administration, information technology security, information assurance management, configuration management, network management and maintenance, network systems modification, and related work.

You will be solutioning at the edge of defense technology. You will lead the ingestion of complex requirements, design enterprise-scale blueprints (leveraging modern DoDAF/DOWAF frameworks), and architect system-of-systems solutions that allow allied forces to share intelligence seamlessly and securely across the globe.

Must be a U.S. Citizen

This position is designated as a Drug Test Designated Position.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a current “Top Secret” Security clearance.

Must be able to obtain and maintain required technical certifications within a reasonable timeframe as determined by the supervisor.

• Windows/Linux, Windows Server, Active Directory - RAID, Group Policy, Azure, PowerShell - Virtualization – VMware, Microsoft Hyper‑V - Ticketing Systems (EITAAS/Remedy) - DISA STIGS, ACAS, NESSUS, SLAP, PKI, NIST SP 800-53
• Knowledge of the command’s standards, policies, functions, organizational set up, and points of contact in subject matter fields and other network operating systems environments to support full range of local and corporate information systems.
• Knowledge of safety, security, personnel management, and EEO regulations, practices, and procedures.
• Knowledge of a wide range of principles, concepts, and methodologies to accomplish work processes using network devices and knowledge of information security practices and procedures.
• Knowledge of hardware and software systems, network operations function, telecommunications and network protocols, and diagnostic tools to recover data to analyze customer problems and provide assistance. .
• Knowledge of network operations, design, analysis and troubleshooting procedures in Ethernet and WAN environments.
• Skill in applying investigative, analytical/evaluative and qualitative/quantitative methods and techniques sufficient to analyze and resolve customer concerns and ability to install network cabling, telecommunications circuits and switches, and support handheld telecommunication devices and ability to adapt to rapidly evolving situations such as security and virus attacks. You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.
