Job summary

TEKsystems is seeking a Desktop Engineer who will manage Windows, macOS, Ubuntu, and Chrome OS endpoints, drive endpoint management, identity access, security, and user support initiatives in a large enterprise.

You will work with Intune, Jamf, MECM/SCCM, and other platforms, implement SSO with Azure AD/Okta/Ping, and support Google Workspace, virtualization, and network connectivity.

This hybrid Foster City, CA contract role offers competitive pay and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in a Desktop Engineer, Systems Administrator, Endpoint Engineer, or advanced IT Support role.
  • Experience supporting Windows, macOS, Ubuntu Linux, and Chrome OS in enterprise environments.
  • Strong experience with Google Workspace administration and troubleshooting.
  • Experience supporting virtualization technologies such as VMware, Parallels, VirtualBox, or similar platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of Active Directory administration, including user, group, and access management.
  • Experience configuring and troubleshooting Single Sign-On (SSO) solutions, including Azure AD, Okta, Ping, or similar identity providers.
  • Hands‑on experience with endpoint management tools such as Intune, MECM/SCCM, Jamf, Landscape, or equivalent platforms.
  • Working knowledge of networking fundamentals, including VPN, DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, and wireless networking.
  • Experience utilizing ITSM and collaboration platforms such as ServiceNow, Jira, and Confluence.
  • Strong understanding of endpoint security best practices and user access controls.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Administer, support, and troubleshoot enterprise endpoint environments across Windows, macOS, Linux and Chrome OS.
  • Provide Tier II/III desktop engineering support for complex hardware, software, OS, and app issues.
  • Manage endpoint lifecycle activities: provisioning, configuration, deployment, patching, upgrades, decommissioning.
  • Support endpoint management platforms such as Intune, Jamf, MECM/SCCM, Landscape or similar.
  • Configure and troubleshoot identity and access management including AD/Azure AD/Okta/Ping and SSO.
  • Administer Google Workspace and support accounts, access, and security settings.
  • Support virtualization technologies including VMware, Parallels, VirtualBox, and related platforms.
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts for endpoint administration, deployments, reporting, and support processes.
  • Ensure endpoint security compliance through best practices, policies and controls.
  • Troubleshoot network connectivity issues (VPN, DNS, DHCP, Wi‑Fi, remote access).
  • Create and maintain technical documentation and knowledge bases.
  • Utilize ServiceNow, Jira, and Confluence to manage incidents, requests, and projects.
  • Collaborate with infra, security, and app teams to improve end-user experience.
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement long‑term solutions.

Position Summary

We are seeking a Desktop Engineer to provide advanced endpoint support, administration, and engineering services across a diverse enterprise environment. This role is responsible for managing and supporting Windows, macOS, Ubuntu, and Chrome OS endpoints while driving endpoint management, identity access, security, virtualization, and user support initiatives. The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise with exceptional troubleshooting and customer service skills to ensure a secure, reliable, and high-performing end-user computing environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer, support, and troubleshoot enterprise endpoint environments, including Windows, macOS, Ubuntu, and Chrome OS devices.
  • Provide Tier II/Tier III desktop engineering support for complex hardware, software, operating system, and application issues.
  • Manage endpoint lifecycle activities including provisioning, configuration, deployment, patching, upgrades, and decommissioning.
  • Support and maintain endpoint management platforms such as Intune, Jamf, MECM/SCCM, Landscape, or similar solutions.
  • Configure, administer, and troubleshoot identity and access management solutions including Active Directory, Azure AD, Okta, Ping, and Single Sign-On (SSO) integrations.
  • Administer Google Workspace and provide support for user accounts, application access, security settings, and troubleshooting.
  • Support virtualization technologies including VMware, Parallels, VirtualBox, and other client-based virtualization platforms.
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts to streamline endpoint administration, deployments, reporting, and support processes.
  • Ensure endpoint security compliance through the implementation of security best practices, policies, and controls.
  • Troubleshoot network connectivity issues involving VPN, DNS, DHCP, wireless networking, and remote access solutions.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, knowledge base articles, and operational procedures.
  • Utilize ticketing and collaboration platforms such as ServiceNow, Jira, and Confluence to manage incidents, requests, and project work.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, security, and application teams to support enterprise technology initiatives and improve the end-user experience.
  • Analyze recurring issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement long-term solutions.
Required Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience in a Desktop Engineer, Systems Administrator, Endpoint Engineer, or advanced IT Support role.
  • Experience supporting enterprise environments running:
    • Microsoft Windows
    • macOS
    • Ubuntu Linux
    • Chrome OS
  • Strong experience with Google Workspace administration and troubleshooting.
  • Experience supporting virtualization technologies such as VMware, Parallels, VirtualBox, or similar platforms.

  • Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified, Jamf, Google Workspace, VMware, or CompTIA certifications.

The ideal candidate is a technically strong Desktop Engineer who thrives in a multi‑platform enterprise environment. They have extensive experience supporting Windows, macOS, Linux, and Chrome OS endpoints, along with expertise in endpoint management, identity access, virtualization, and Google Workspace administration. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $50.00/hr.
