Job summary

Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare is seeking an Analytics Specialist to support data reporting, mining, and analysis across a 22-county region. You will collaborate with clinicians to design and maintain Epic data reporting tools, dashboards, and extracts, using SQL and related technologies to improve patient outcomes and reduce costs.

Qualified candidates have a Bachelor’s in IT or related field, 2 years of experience, and familiarity with Epic Cogito reporting modules.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in IT or related field; Epic certification preferred.
• Two years of related professional experience; strong communication and analytical skills.
• Experience with Epic Cogito reporting modules and SQL-based data extraction is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Participates in planning, coordination, and maintenance of data reporting and analysis projects.
• Collaborates with clinicians and end users to design, build, implement, document, evaluate, and maintain Epic data reporting tools.
• Utilizes SQL and other tools to build dashboards, reports, prompts, alerts, screens, and data extracts.
• Analyzes business problems and recommends data-driven solutions to improve outcomes, cost, and efficiency.

HOW YOU'LL MAKE AN IMPACT

Job Summary:

Participates in planning, coordination, development, implementation, and maintenance activities related to data reporting, data mining, and data analysis. Collaborates with clinicians and system end users to design, build, implement, document, evaluate, and maintain Epic data reporting tools and integrated components. Utilizes a knowledge of structured query language (SQL) and other data analytical tools to build and maintain reporting user interfaces (e.g., alerts, prompts, screens, dashboards, templates, reports and data extracts). Analyzes and understand business problems; recommends solutions meeting organizational, clinical, and business systems reporting goals. Supports a secure, effective, integrated patient care delivery reporting platform that improves outcomes, reduces cost, increases efficiency, and enhances patients’ experiences continually.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO APPLY

Required Education:

• Bachelor's degree in IT, IT management, software engineering, computer engineering, computer science, computer information systems (IS), applied engineering, health information management (HIM), health informatics, nursing informatics, nursing, health science, education, business administration, health care, or a related field.
• Human Resources (HR) may accept directly related work experience on a 1-year:1-year basis for required education.
  • NOTE: Experience credited in lieu of formal education will not be credited toward the minimum experience requirement below (i.e., the same experience will not be counted twice).

Required Experience:

• Two (2) years of directly related professional experience
• Communication skills (critical).
• Complex problem-solving skills (critical).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with one or more of Epic’s Cogito reporting modules, including Clarity, Caboodle, Chronicles.
• Experience with SQL-like language.
• Journeyman knowledge of SQL programming and data extraction methodologies.
• Knowledge of report development best practices.
• Understanding of relational database management system (RDBMS) concepts.
• Familiarity with hospital workflows.
• Familiar with programming languages, data modeling standards, and data structures.
• Proficient in at least one of the following: Python, C#, Visual Basic, or other object-oriented programming language.
• Ability to analyze/understand business problems and recommend solutions.

Required Certification/License/Registry:

Related Epic certification(s) required. Multiple certifications may be required depending on functional area and job responsibilities. Required certification(s) must be obtained within ninety (90) days from last class completion.

If a required certification is not obtained after three (3) examination attempts, the incumbent has a period of thirty (30) days after the last examination attempt to apply for other job opportunities within the organization.
