Work Schedule:

8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Monday through Friday. Flexibility to adjust as needed by the department.

Rate of Pay:

This is a Full-Time Support Staff position at grade 213, with an annual salary range of $57,800 to $77,067 The salary offer will be based on education and experience, in alignment with the College's compensation philosophy and the current Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), if applicable.

Job Summary:

This position provides advanced technical support for college computer hardware and software as well as high-level troubleshooting and support for AV systems throughout the college. This position has a priority focus on providing high-level support for AV systems and coordination of events on campus. This position works closely with the AV Systems Architect to support and maintain all AV systems at the college. This role has advanced computer and software troubleshooting skillsets, as well as the ability to manage and deploy computer systems and software in a networked environment. This role is responsible for maintaining computers, software, and supporting AV equipment such as control systems in lecterns and conference rooms, projectors, displays, and audio components to ensure uninterrupted instructional and administrative operations

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • A bachelor’s degree in a computer technology or A/V related field or a minimum of 4 years of education/experience working with specialized computer equipment, software, A/V equipment, technical troubleshooting, and supporting event technology.
  • Recent computer and/or A/V related certifications are preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge integrating and administering hardware/software using various systems management platforms such as Microsoft SCCM, Jamf Pro, and Google Admin Console.
  • High-level knowledge and troubleshooting of A/V systems, digital classrooms, virtual meeting conference spaces, and ability to assist end-users during presentations and events.
  • Extensive knowledge of A/V systems, as well as automation and control systems used during client presentations and events.
  • Proficiency in programming concepts necessary for system automation using various scripting languages related to both computers and A/V systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of computer hardware, software, and network security principles.
  • Extensive knowledge of troubleshooting A/V related issues and working with clients and contractors when necessary to resolve issues.
  • Proficient in AV systems and technologies and can relate concepts to end users of varying skill levels and assist contractors and vendors to resolve issues.
  • Excellent organizational skills for coordinating multiple events that can often occur at the same time. Time management skills are critical.
  • Excellent documentation skills to ensure proper training materials and how-to guides can be made available to operate the A/V equipment on campus. Ensuring all work is tracked within project tracking system.
  • Large scale, on-premises service and helpdesk related experience.
  • Problem-solving and analytical aptitude.
  • Ability to work under pressure and adapt to unforeseen circumstances.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.

Essential Duties:
  • Ensuring prompt responses to helpdesk (Jira) requests by diagnosing and resolving issues related to AV-controlled devices, audio systems, video displays, conferencing equipment, network connectivity, and related hardware/software. Providing high-level support for both on-premises and cloud-based AV/IT integrations, while maintaining thorough documentation of all troubleshooting steps and communications in the ticketing system. Taking initiative to self-assign and prioritize support tickets, and lead escalation efforts by coordinating with specialized teams to resolve complex issues efficiently.
  • Coordinating closely with the AV Systems Architect and Facilities Rental department to provide adequate support for campus events. Recommending solutions based on client needs and ensuring equipment is set up and torn down in a timely manner. Seeking assistance from other departments or supervisors as necessary.
  • Responsible for deploying computers, software, printers, A/V equipment, and network devices across the campus. This includes assisting users with connectivity issues such as Wi-Fi setup and mobile device integration and providing responsive frontline support advanced issues. Inventory, image, and configure new hardware using standardized deployment packages, and migrate user profiles during hardware replacements to ensure smooth transitions. Install, configure, and maintain operating systems and software applications to keep systems secure and optimized
  • Serve as an advanced departmental resource for software and hardware support (Windows, MacOS, Google Workspace) and helpdesk services across ECC's networked environment. Utilize tools such as Microsoft SCCM and remote server administration utilities, and provide support across all ECC campuses as needed.
  • Consult with end-users to demonstrate and instruct on the use of college-owned technology, recommend solutions to meet their technical needs, and coordinate implementation with internal and external departments. Participate in various planning committees for high-level events taking place on campus. Graduation ceremonies, convocations, etc.
  • Provide backup support across all Technology Services functions that are reasonably related to the functions of the position; mentor colleagues to promote collaboration and knowledge sharing, and maintain computer hardware and peripherals—including printers, scanners, point-of-sale systems, and barcode scanners. You'll also support special events with equipment setup and testing, assist with inventory management, and perform other duties as assigned to support departmental goals.
