Job summary

VARITE is seeking an IT Asset Management Specialist for a client in Montgomery, Alabama. The role oversees the end-to-end lifecycle of technology assets, ensuring proper receipt, tagging, tracking, auditing, and disposal in line with state policies and internal controls.

This is an onsite, 12-month engagement with a pay rate of $38.00–$43.00/hr on W2. Responsibilities include asset receiving, tagging, accurate inventory records, chain-of-custody tracking, audits, and compliance documentation.

Qualifications

• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate and complete records.
• Knowledge of IT hardware, including computers, peripherals, networking equipment, mobile devices, and related technologies.
• Experience with asset tagging, inventory management systems, and barcode/RFID technologies.
• Ability to investigate and reconcile inventory discrepancies.
• Understanding of chain-of-custody and chain-of-possession protocols.
• Ability to prepare and maintain audit-ready documentation.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to maintain orderly storage and work environments.
• Analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to safely lift and move IT equipment within reasonable limits.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and effectively collaborate across multiple teams.
• Proficiency with asset management software, spreadsheets, and reporting tools.

Responsibilities

• Asset Receiving and Inventory Management: receive assets, verify shipment accuracy, document and apply asset tags.
• Maintain inventory records in asset management system with location, status, ownership, and lifecycle info.
• Track movement of equipment through chain-of-possession and chain-of-custody procedures.
• Conduct periodic physical inventory audits and reconcile discrepancies.
• Prepare audit documentation and compliance reports.
• Ensure inventory records remain audit-ready at all times.
• Support all phases of asset lifecycle: deployment, transfers, reassignments, repairs, returns, disposal.
• Ensure surplus/disposal comply with regulations and data security standards.
• Maintain organized, secure storage for IT assets.
• Collaborate with procurement, finance, security, and IT operations for accuracy and compliance.
• Assist in developing, implementing, and improving asset management policies and procedures.
• Respond to inquiries and provide operational reporting and improvement recommendations.
