Job summary

The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is seeking an IT Application Developer to join the Applications Modernization Team within the Technology Services Division. You will develop, support, and modernize cloud-hosted and on-premises applications, with a focus on TRAINS 4 data layer C# interfaces and APIs and the Angular-based Work Order Crosswalk frontend.

Qualifications

• Full Stack Developer capable of designing, developing, enhancing, and maintaining full stack applications, interfaces, and APIs using modern front-end and back-end tech.
• Strong experience with C# and .NET frameworks, including Web API, ASP.NET Webforms, and MVC architectures.
• Proven database design and development in Microsoft SQL Server environments.
• Ability to interpret technical specs, perform testing, troubleshoot complex codebases, and estimate effort.
• Excellent communication with customers, peers, and stakeholders.
• Demonstrates growth mindset and service-oriented attitude.

Responsibilities

• Develop, enhance, and maintain web applications, interfaces, and APIs for multiple business units.
• Use standard tools to analyze and optimize code and systems for performance and resource utilization.
• Perform applications, interface, and API diagnostics using logging, tracing, and other techniques.
• Collaborate with subject matter experts and business analysts to translate requirements into secure technology solutions.
• Research and implement security standards; learn new technologies and methodologies.
• Ensure encryption for transmission and storage of sensitive data.
• Ensure compliance with agency security best practices and static analysis scanning.
• Conduct reviews and assessments for modernization opportunities.
• Implement performance tuning aligned with customer needs.
