The IT Systems Administrator will be responsible for management and maintenance of various enterprise applications (including Microsoft 365) to ensure successful adoption and usage by internal customers. The systems administrator will manage the various application environments and apply critical thinking skills and a strategic mindset to help optimize the platforms. This role will be responsible for training, advocacy, and advising internal customers on best practices and new platform features of the applications. The systems administrator will work closely with a variety of business users and vendor partners to maintain each platform. To ensure success, the systems administrator should possess extensive knowledge of various applications, such as Microsoft 365, good problem-solving skills, exceptional communication, and high-level interpersonal skills. The administrator should be observant and detail-oriented and possess a sense of urgency and an understanding of the business, services, and the issues their customers face.

  • Training, Documentation, Knowledge Transfer: Identify, research, recommend, and implement Microsoft 365 solutions and applications such as Teams, Office, Outlook, OneDrive, Bookings, and SharePoint.
  • Training, Documentation, Knowledge Transfer: Serves as a SME in various enterprise applications such as Microsoft 365 to provide effective operational and technical advice around these technologies.
  • Training, Documentation, Knowledge Transfer: Stay current on updates of upcoming and new functionality introduced within the enterprise platform and keep users informed.
  • Training, Documentation, Knowledge Transfer: Creates knowledge base and/or best practice documents for customers as well as help desk.
  • Security and Governance: Manage application security administration in collaboration with the information security team.
  • Security and Governance: Ensure compliance with license agreements and provide input to contracts for other applications.
  • Needs Assessment & Delivery: Work closely with business users to gather requirements for new initiatives and determine how those requirements can be met with the existing toolset.
  • Needs Assessment & Delivery: Architecting and documenting specific needs.
  • Needs Assessment & Delivery: Assist with troubleshooting and diagnosing potential issues.
  • Day-to-Day Support: Serve as administrator of various application platforms including Microsoft 365.
  • Day-to-Day Support: Ensuring the standard help desk procedures are followed so future issues can be addressed by the support team.
  • Day-to-Day Support: Identify and escalate situations requiring urgent attention.
  • Day-to-Day Support: Proactively reaching out to management to ensure the proper level of service is being achieved.
  • Day-to-Day Support: Evaluates, tests, and recommends feature updates and upgrades in a compliant environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education:

Degree in Computer Science or technology related field and/or equivalent experience preferred.

Experience:

2-5 years of experience in an IT applications support role. Microsoft 365 certification preferred but not required. Commitment to continual training in required platforms and tools is essential for this role.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • Experience working with Microsoft 365 Apps (Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, etc.) in a professional work setting.
  • In-depth understanding of Microsoft 365 capabilities, plans, service descriptions, and features
  • In-depth understanding of various emergent technologies, such as AI, and their applications in a business environment.
  • In-depth understanding of general policies and enforcement such as (data retention, legal hold, geo restrictions, etc)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Security using Active Directory and single sign-on solutions.
  • Basic scripting and development skills using PowerShell.
  • Excellent problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
  • High customer service orientation and excellent communication skills.
  • Interest and motivation towards next generation cloud services.
  • Demonstrated professionalism and ability to maintain confidentiality in working with others of various levels
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to think creatively and put ideas into action.
