Job summary

University of Florida Information Technology (UFIT) is seeking an entry level IT Application Developer to join the Applications, Development and Integrations Team on the Gainesville campus.

You will participate in the full software development life cycle, meet with analysts to gather requirements, design solutions, develop code, test, and document ERP enhancements. Strong SQL and relational database skills are required, with experience in at least one object-oriented language.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree; or a high school diploma or equivalent and two years of relevant experience. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
  • SQL and relational database systems (Oracle, DB2, SQL Server) are preferred.
  • Object-oriented programming languages (C#, Java, PeopleCode, etc.) are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Meet with analysts to gather, analyze, and prioritize requirements.
  • Devise and propose solutions for new projects and enhancements to ERP systems.
  • Develop and test new code that maintains the integrity of the ERP systems.
  • Develop efficient and performant SQL within the ERP system.

Job Description

UF Information Technology (UFIT) is currently seeking seeking an entry level IT Application Developer to join the Applications, Development and Integrations Team, a unit within UFIT.

Employment with UFIT provides an excellent opportunity to work with other employees dedicated and focused on understanding and interpreting the technological needs of the University of Florida’s innovative and inspirational community.

The Applications, Development and Integrations team is focused on building and enhancing enterprise solutions to support critical business processesfor the University of Florida. We are looking for skilled team members whoenjoy using their creative talents to produce business solutions which address the needs of our customers.You will participate in projects to solvebusiness problems and create efficiency. You will work in a collaborative, team environment, participate in thefull software development life cycle and produce quality enterprise solutions. You will be required to meet withcustomers, analyze requirements, propose solutions, create design specifications and prototypes, develop and test new code and document solutions. You will perform enhancements and help maintainexisting applications. You must have excellent communication skills, keep current with the latest trends inapplication development and have a history of producing quality work.

Qualified candidates will have working experience with one or more programming languages as well as SQL (structured query language) and database design.

  • Issue management or project management
  • Ability to search online resources for answers and learn quickly
