Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) seeks an Electrical or Computer Engineering Intern to help rapidly develop tailored sensor systems for austere environments. You will work with a multidisciplinary team and mentor engineers to move concepts into field-ready solutions.

You will gain hands-on experience in hardware and firmware design, prototyping, testing, and data analysis while collaborating across domains such as imaging, sensing, and communications.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or related field of study
  • Have relevant project or work experience in hardware or firmware design or embedded systems development
  • Can interact effectively with team members of different experience levels and backgrounds
  • Have a minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale; unofficial transcripts acceptable
  • Must be eligible to acquire Interim Secret level security clearance by start date and eventually Secret clearance; U.S. citizenship required

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development of sophisticated sensor systems
  • Develop prototypes and test them in the field with senior mentors
  • Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team of mechanical, electrical, embedded, and software engineers
  • Take ownership of projects from concept through delivery
