Job summary

The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) is seeking Engineering Interns to help design, build, and test electromagnetic sensing and RF systems for national security applications. Students will work across hardware, software, and data analytics domains in an end-to-end development team.

You will contribute to hardware design, FPGA work, embedded development, and software optimization while pursuing a relevant degree and maintaining academic eligibility.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Electromagnetics or Physics.
  • GPA of 3.0/4.0 or higher.
  • Experience with at least one: C, C++, C#, Java, Python, Matlab.
  • Able to obtain Interim Secret clearance by start date; ultimately Secret clearance; U.S. citizenship required for access to classified information.

Responsibilities

  • Support development of algorithmic possibilities through brainstorming, prototyping, implementation and optimization.
  • Assist in developing portable communication devices and miniature wireless systems through board-level circuit design and integration.
  • Collaborate to design, implement and test software for RF exploitation and communication applications.
  • Support evaluation, testing and debugging of prototype devices through lab and field tests.
  • Contribute to design reviews, system integration, reports, and sponsor presentations.
