Job summary

The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) in Laurel, MD invites students pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in EE, CS, Physics to join its Sensor Engineering and Phenomenology Group as an internship. You will analyze data from live-fire tests and help develop system concepts to advance defense capabilities.

Youll gain hands-on experience with MATLAB, Python, Java, and C/C++, model environmental effects, and present results to technical leads.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's/Master's/PhD in EE/CS/Physics or similar.
  • Maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
  • Familiar with MATLAB or Python.
  • Eligible for Interim Secret clearance; US citizenship required.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze recorded data from live-fire test events to gain insights into system performance.
  • Develop and apply simulations in MATLAB, Java, C/C++, and Python.
  • Apply machine learning, signal processing, and data science to real-world problems.
  • Develop instrumentation and algorithms to understand RF propagation effects.
  • Present results to technical leads and managers, aligning with group mission.
