Job summary

CITY OF GALVESTON is seeking a team member for refuse collection on designated routes. This full-time position is performed outdoors in varied weather, requiring physical effort and reliable attendance. A valid Texas driver's license is required.

You will operate and assist sanitation vehicles, maintain route records, and support event cleanup and public safety. The role emphasizes service to residents and collaboration with coworkers to keep the city clean.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Possession of a valid Texas Driver's License.
• Experience in city sanitation or outdoor labor is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Collects solid waste along an assigned City route, including bags and bulky items.
• Operates and assists in sanitation vehicle operations.
• Performs post-trip truck maintenance such as greasing fittings and washing the truck.
• Maintains activity reports.
• Participates in special event cleanup assignments.
• Assists other agencies with trash removal as needed.
• Supports courteous, professional interaction with the public and City staff.
• May be required to respond to emergencies to ensure public safety.
