Job summary

The City of Galveston is seeking a Sanitation Worker to collect refuse along a designated route, including bags, televisions, building materials, furniture and related items. The role involves outdoor work and may require lifting up to 90 pounds.

You will assist with sanitation vehicle operations, perform post-trip duties, maintain activity reports and participate in event cleanups, while supporting public safety and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Collect solid waste on an assigned City route, including bags, televisions, furniture and related items.
• Assist in operations of sanitation vehicles.
• Perform post-trip activities on the sanitation truck, including greasing fittings and washing the truck.
• Maintain activity reports.
• Participate in special event cleanup assignments.
• Assist other agencies with trash removal within the City as needed.
• Provide assistance to other drivers as necessary.
• Support the relationship between the City of Galveston and the public, maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
