Job summary

Vancouver Public Schools is seeking a Special Program Paraeducator 2 for the Integrated Social Emotional Program (ISEP). This one-on-one role runs 6 hours per day, 9 months per year, supporting students with diverse needs under the supervision of certified staff.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, with related experience or ParaPro credentials, and strong interpersonal and teamwork skills to collaborate with teachers and aides on student goals.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with additional education or ParaPro credentials as listed.
• 1 year of related educational experience preferred.
• Experience as part of an educational team is preferred.
• Strong interpersonal, problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
• Ability to work with students with moderate to severe disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist the teacher and implement IEP goals under supervision.
• De-escalate students during emotional/behavioral crises and follow plans.
• Prepare teaching materials and maintain data collection records.
• Grade and provide feedback on student work using rubrics.
• Observe student behavior and communicate with team and families as appropriate.
• Attend trainings and contribute to a safe, respectful learning environment.
• Support daily routines and adapt tasks to individual student needs.
