Immediate Supervisor: Golf Course Superintendent

Hours:

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

General Summary: Summary

Essential Job Functions:

1. Designs, implements and maintains mechanical and electrical components of complex irrigation systems.
2. Installs and maintains underground pipe.
3. Operates trench digger and crawler-type tractor.
4. Maintains records of daily activities and expenses.
5. Assists Golf Course Superintendent with preventative maintenance of designated systems.
6. Assists Golf Course Superintendent in maintaining parts inventory.
7. Makes all irrigation orders after Golf Course Superintendent’s approval.
8. Repairs irrigation system defects.
9. Performs preventative maintenance and curative maintenance on all equipment associated with irrigation.
10. Maintains complete records on all equipment maintenance associated with irrigation.
11. Trains and supervises staff assigned to irrigation responsibilities.
12. Controls expenses associated with irrigation equipment and activities.
13. Maintains inventory of parts needed for irrigation equipment.
14. Irrigates all grounds as needed.
15. Performs all other duties as required.

Essential Physical Requirements:

1. This position includes (long periods of) climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling and repetitive motions.
2. Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds.
3. Must be able to navigate through rough and uneven terrain.
4. Must be able to work in hot conditions for long periods of time.
5. Must have ability to work in hot and muggy conditions on continuous basis.
6. Must be able to work in inclement weather conditions.
7. Must be physically able to do assigned work as outlined above.
8. Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions.

Must have a valid Florida Driver’s License.

Must be able to read, write and communicate effectively in English.
