Job summary

California State University, Long Beach is seeking an Irrigation Specialist for Long Beach, CA. The role supports campus irrigation systems under the supervision of the Supervising Groundsworker and is a temporary, full-time position.

The successful candidate will maintain and install irrigation infrastructure, track materials and labor, and may supervise staff during maintenance tasks. A high school diploma and CA driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma and two years of irrigation maintenance experience.
• Experience with installation, repair, and modification of irrigation systems.
• Valid California driver’s license.
• Familiarity with Rainmaster central irrigation system.

Responsibilities

• Maintains, modifies, repairs and replaces damaged heads, risers, lines, and valves.
• Troubleshoot irrigation system wiring and irrigation controllers.
• Installs new irrigation systems.
• May occasionally supervise personnel assigned to assist in routine maintenance and installation activities.
• Accurately track labor, materials for work using the proper work order for tracking purposes.
• Construction project inspection, plan review, interfacing with contractors.
• Working knowledge of automated central irrigation systems (Rainmaster) operation and programming.
