Job summary

Mortenson is seeking an ironworker for marking, positioning, and securing structural steel to reinforce concrete or building structures on projects in Floydada, TX. You will assist with rebar, welding, tying, and assembly tasks, while coordinating with crane crews and following safety protocols.

The role requires a HS diploma or GED, some related experience, and a valid driver’s license. Strong teamwork, good communication, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1 year of related experience preferred.
• Equipment certifications as required.
• Current driver’s license required.
• Strong teamwork orientation and professional customer service skills.
• Ability to read and interpret safety regulations and manuals; basic math skills; work independently.
• Lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Set up, flag, and inspect a crane; inspect rigging properly.
• Check in truck deliveries against bill of lading; direct forklift/crane to unload delivery truck.
• Count bars and bundles of rebar, dobies, and wire mesh.
• Direct forklift/crane to unload delivery truck.
• Shake out rebar, distribute/organize; tie intersections with tie wire.
• Splice mats or rebar with short dowels; install mechanical splices.
• Understand building codes and requirements; cut excess rebar with saw or torch.
• Install rebar dowels into fresh concrete footings and caps on vertical dowels.
• Determine number, size, and location of reinforcing rods from plans.
• Operate rodbending tools; reinforce concrete with wire mesh.
• Receive and offload major components; prepare nacelle, hub, and tower; connect blades to hub.
• Climb ladders (average 80m); assist in crane assembly and teardown.
• Install ornamental ironwork as needed; build relations across diverse teams.
• Maintain safety and quality, follow instructions, and perform other duties as assigned.
