Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) is seeking a B&B Mechanic-Ironworker to fabricate, repair, and install structural steel for Metro-North Railroad facilities. Qualifications

• Must have High School Diploma or GED.
• Vocational or apprentice training in Ironwork or Welding.
• Two years of experience performing Ironwork or Welding.

Responsibilities

• Cut and fabricate steel members to specifications for all Track & Structures work gangs.
• Fabricate and repair steelwork on all buildings, bridges, and railroad structures.
• Prepare and clean steel by removing rust and old rivets using tools like needle gun and rivet buster.
• Paint finished steel members with brushes and/or paint guns.
• Hoist steel beams and columns into place using cranes and hoisting equipment to align and fit structural members.
