Job summary

TIC - The Industrial Company in Port Arthur, TX is seeking an experienced steel erection assistant to join our field crew. You will read blueprints, fabricate and install steel components, and coordinate hoisting operations on busy job sites.

The role requires hands-on work with heavy equipment, strict safety adherence, and the ability to follow precise instructions in challenging outdoor environments. Overtime and travel may be required based on project needs.

Qualifications

• Must understand blueprints and joinery processes.
• Ability to follow instructions and work safely.
• Experience in steel erection preferred.
• Ability to pass pre-access drug and alcohol testing.

Responsibilities

• Read specifications or blueprints to determine material quantities.
• Fabricate metal parts (steel frames, beams) per blueprints.
• Unload and position prefabricated steel units; hoist with cranes.
• Verify alignment using plumb bobs, laser, transits, or levels.
• Cut, bend, or weld steel pieces with tools.
• Assemble hoisting equipment to move heavy materials.
• Estimate time, costs, resources for work activities.
• Inspect workers' output for compliance with contract plans.
