Job summary

TIC - The Industrial Company is seeking an entry-level helper to support skilled craftspeople in fabricating and handling structural steel components. You will learn to read blueprints, assist with cutting, welding, and rigging tasks, and help position heavy units using cranes under supervision.

Ideal candidates understand instructions, work safely, and can perform physically demanding tasks outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent; field experience preferred.
Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions and communicate effectively with supervision.
Knowledge of safety practices and the use of hand and power tools.

Responsibilities

Learn to read specifications or blueprints to determine locations, quantities, or sizes of material required.
Assist skilled craftsman to fabricate metal parts according to blueprints or supervisor instructions.
Assist with unloading and positioning prefabricated steel units for hoisting; hoist steel beams or girders using cranes or signaling operators.
Learn to verify vertical and horizontal alignment of structural steel members using plumb bobs, lasers, or levels.
Cut, bend, or weld steel pieces using shears, torches, or welding equipment.
Assemble hoisting equipment or riggings to move heavy equipment or materials.
