Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Clinical Practice Specialist to strengthen education and professional development across units. You will lead staff education, monitor quality metrics, and support specialty certification efforts.

The role emphasizes safety, evidence-based practice, and collaboration with diverse clinical teams, shaping staff growth and patient care excellence in a dynamic hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing is required.
• Master’s in Science in Nursing or you must obtain it within 4 years of starting.
• Registered Nursing license issued by the State of Illinois is required.
• Certification in related clinical area or eligibility to obtain it.
• 3–5 years’ experience in the specified clinical area is expected.
• BLS through American Heart Association is required.

Responsibilities

• Develops and implements education opportunities for staff identified through needs assessments, departmental and system goals and new/expanded clinical programs.
• Supports staff to seek/maintain specialty certification including monitoring progress and completion.
• Leads inter-professional teams for unit/division based and house-wide clinical process improvement.
• Plans, implements, evaluates division specific learning activities to improve safety and update policies.
• Participates in ongoing staff orientation, competency evaluation and educational planning.

Education

Bachelor of Science in Nursing

Master's in Science in Nursing or to obtain within 4 years of assuming role

Registered Nursing license issued by the State of Illinois

Certified in related clinical area or to obtain when eligible

3-5 years' experience in specific clinical area
